Look and listen. What do you see and hear around you? The news brings us a constant influx of bad reports. From economic downturn, morale collapse, war and sickness it’s no wonder Steve Farrar begins chapter 1 with Thomas Payne’s famous words, “these are the times that try men’s souls.”

Yet, we are not without hope. The Bible reminds us that God is ever present and ever working even through the darkest hours. Let’s dig into Chapter 1 and see how Steve reminds us that God provides us with a triple shot of hope: the certainty His providence, His promises and His plan.
